We have been busy in 2013!

As I said before, we are always taking our holiday place a step further, adding more comfort, adding those little details that make La Moulinal a place to feel at ease, a home away from home. In the pictures below you can see some of the things we have done to the place this year.

Add lounge seats to the outside areas

Sturdy bench, treated with white wash oil. The durable cushions are also used on boats.
Do you like the vintage schoolchairs?

Maison d'amis has its own cosy corner, right of the master bedroom. Ideal for a coffee in the morning sun!

Bathrooms!

A lot of attention and time has been given to the bathrooms this year...

More pictures of the painted bedrooms

Here they are, more pictures of our latest painting project! Remember the dark wood paneling in the rooms: very cosy, but I wanted to lighten up everything. It turned out beautiful, don't you think? My first experience with Annie Sloan's chalk paint, a water based, natural paint. No sanding needed, just start painting, after 2 layers of paint, this is the result! Amazing, isn't it?

Painting bedrooms of maison d'Isabel

Recently I discovered Annie Sloan's chalk paint. In the upstairs bedrooms of 'maison d'Isabel' we had wood paneling, a bit dark and dated...

I wanted to paint it a lighter colour, but the paneling was varnished and I thought sanding it down first was the only option... but then I discovered chalk paint (www.oldredbarn.be): no sanding needed, and the paint is water based and ecological.
I am very proud to show you the results. We used lime paint for the ceiling and chalk paint (old white) for the wood paneling.
One layer for the ceiling is enough to give it the natural look we want, for the wood paneling we added 2 layers of the chalk paint.

The room immediately looks bright and airy, what a difference, don't you think?

Nice with that bedding...

More pictures will follow... in a next post. Thank you for your visit, and keep coming back!
